How long will physical therapy take?
We would love to give you a definitive answer … to tell you “if this hurts, it takes this long” or “if that hurts it takes that long” . . . but the truth is no physical therapy facility, no physical therapist can or should guarantee an exact number or duration.
PAIN IS PERSONAL. Your degree of injury may not always equal your degree of pain or that of your neighbor or cousin who had “the exact same thing” … and it may even be different now that you are older versus when you had “the exact same thing” five years ago. At Chiron, we know this and will remind you should you become discouraged or frustrated during the process.
We know you do not want to be here … we know this pain, this injury is interrupting your life … and we know you want to get back to your life, your activities as quickly as possible and will work with you to achieve your goals. But, do YOU know that YOU CONTROL two of the most important factors involved in the healing process?
Study after study after study has shown that frequency and cumulative therapy is best and will enable you to improve more rapidly. Think about it:
- College and pro athletes attend physical therapy daily until they are back on the field or court;
- Hospital patients and in-patient rehabilitation patients receive physical therapy daily so they can be discharged;
Can you attend physical therapy daily to maximize the benefits and speed up your healing? Probably not as life and responsibilities of living in Loudoun County will prevent that time commitment. But, if you choose to make healing a priority, success is likely to follow. Open 300 days per year with morning, afternoon and late evening appointment times available we stand ready to work with you and work around your busy life to make your healing a top priority.
